METGE to Celebrate 25 Million Trees Distributed Across the Mount Elgon Region

Since 2010, Mount Elgon Tree Growing Enterprise (METGE), with the generous support of the Welsh Government through Size of Wales, has achieved the 25 million trees distribution milestone across communities in the Mount Elgon region and Bukedea.

This achievement reflects METGE’s unwavering commitment to climate change mitigation and adaptation, community empowerment, and sustainable landscape restoration. Over the years, METGE’s collaborative approach has helped restore degraded lands, enhance livelihoods, and strengthen community resilience to the impacts of climate change.

To commemorate this remarkable journey, METGE is organizing a grand celebration event on Saturday, 25th October 2025, featuring:

🏃 Public Marathon – raising awareness of the impact of tree planting and encouraging community participation in environmental conservation.
🌿 Exhibition – showcasing innovations, community contributions, and key achievements made through METGE’s programs.
🤝 Luncheon – appreciating and celebrating partners, stakeholders, and community champions who have contributed to METGE’s success.

The event aims to:
