Executive Director’s Reflections on Achieving 25 Million Trees

It gives me immense joy and pride to join you all in celebrating a truly remarkable milestone — the raising ,distribution and planting of 25 million trees by Mount Elgon Tree Growing Enterprise. This achievement is not just a number; it is a living legacy of resilience, partnership, and shared commitment to restoring our planet’s green cover.

When we embarked on this journey, our vision was simple yet ambitious: a healthy, safe, and prosperous community in the Mount Elgon region through the growing of trees. Today, as we look across the slopes of Mount Elgon and beyond, we see forests reborn, lives impacted, and hope renewed — a testament to what can be achieved when people and purpose come together.

This milestone belongs to all of us — the dedicated farmers who nurture each seedling, our passionate staff, the local communities who have embraced sustainable land use, and our invaluable partners and supporters who have believed in our mission every step of the way.

Together, we have not only planted trees but also sown the seeds of opportunity, resilience, and prosperity.

As we celebrate this achievement, we also reaffirm our commitment to the journey ahead. The challenges of climate change demand that we scale up our efforts, innovate, and continue working hand in hand with communities to create Mount Elgon landscapes that are both ecologically balanced and economically sustainable.
