All is set for the much-anticipated Marathon Run to celebrate the distribution and planting of 25 million trees across the Mount Elgon region and Bukedea.
During a press conference held on Tuesday, Mount Elgon Tree Growing Enterprise (METGE) confirmed that preparations are complete for the grand event taking place this Saturday, 25th October 2025 at Uganda Christian University Grounds in Mbale city. The celebration marks a monumental milestone in community-led restoration and environmental stewardship, showcasing years of dedication to restoring degraded landscapes and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
The press conference brought together media representatives, partners, stakeholders, and environmental advocates, all united in their commitment to reversing land degradation and enhancing community resilience to the impacts of climate change.
The marathon will not only celebrate the achievement of 25 million trees distributed and planted since 2010 but also raise public awareness about the urgent need for climate action and environmental conservation.
